Postgraduate taught courses

The Blizard Institute is home to a lively postgraduate community, and its Postgraduate Taught (PGT) programmes are led by experts and informed by the latest research. We offer courses both in-house and through Distance Learning, with The Blizard Institute having the largest proportion of distance learning courses found within Queen Mary University of London.

Please note:

  • The majority of PGT courses within the Blizard are open to MBBS (or equivalent) qualified Medical Practitioners and Surgeons only.
  • The exceptions are:

MSc / PG Dip Clinical Microbiology:

  • Open to Medical Practitioners, Scientists or Nurses currently working in the field of Infectious Disease
  • The full time MSc is also open to recent graduates in biomedical science
  • Part-time applicants must hold an appointment or attachment in a Microbiology department of a hospital, HPA or other appropriate institution for the duration of the programme.

MSc Global Public Health and Policy, MSc International Primary Health Care, MSc Health Systems and Global Policy, MSc Global Health, Law and Governance:

  • Open to a diverse range of professional and disciplinary backgrounds, including GPs, hospital doctors and paramedical staff, primary care workers, public health practitioners, policy makers, researchers, and NGO staff, and graduates in social science, science, medicine, nursing, and other related disciplines.

MSc / PG Dip Neuroscience and Translational Medicine:

  • Open to those with undergraduate degrees in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Physiology, Biochemistry or Biomedical Sciences
  • Medical, Pharmacy or Nursing degrees.
